An intrepid team of mums and dads have completed a tough cycling challenge from Knutsford to Wales to raise much-needed funds for our nursery.
The nine-strong group of parents have cycled the 120km distance from High Legh Pre School Nursery on Pheasant Walk to the pier at Llandudno in North Wales.
The challenge took place on Friday, July 11 and they completed the feat in around nine hours, raising more than £1,700 for the cause so far.
The money will be used to transform the garden area at the nursery and create a brand-new outdoor play and learning environment for the children.
High Legh Pre-School Nursery has been at the heart of the community for more than half a century. It’s a registered charity run by a dedicated parent-led committee, who organise fundraising efforts throughout the year to ensure the nursery can continue to thrive.
Joe Long, Chairman of the Committee, said: “None of us are professional cyclists, some of the group hadn’t been on a bike in years, but we all shared the same goal – to raise as much as we can for the nursery.
“It was tough going at times and there were a few wrong turns, steep hills and very sore legs by the end, but we conquered it together. It was a fantastic effort from everyone involved and an amazing feeling to finally reach the pier at Llandudno and see our families, children and supporters waiting for us and cheering us on.
“We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us throughout this journey, whether through donations, encouragement, or joining us along the way. Your support means the world to us and will make a real difference for the nursery and its children.”
The nursery parents are no stranger to adventure, last year a group of dads took on the National Three Peaks Challenge to conquer the three highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales in under 24 hours, with all the money raised going towards renovating the children’s garden and play area.
